DUVILLA was set up in 2008 by Mark van Dorp, an economist with over 15 years of experience in natural resource management, peace building and sustainable economic development. Van Dorp has worked for various organisations in Africa. For a detailed profile of Van Dorp, click here.

DUVILLA is a privately owned firm registered with the Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam. DUVILLA works in close partnership with a number of other consultancy firms to generate more impact and to integrate complementary expertise in its projects. In this way, DUVILLA can provide you with the right team of experts. DUVILLA is part of the consultants’ pool of the Matchmaking Facility of NL Agency (Ministry of Economic Affairs). DUVILLA is also a member of the Netherlands African Business Council (NABC), a network of Dutch companies working in Africa.

The name DUVILLA is an abbreviation of the French “Du Village”, which was the nickname of Van Dorp when he first came to francophone Africa in 1993. The name also stands for a philosophy of working on sustainability from the grassroots level. DUVILLA always works with local communities, villages, entrepreneurs and governments to create a process of change towards a sustainable society.
