Study on fair trade certification of biofuels in Tanzania
2011 | Area of work: Green and fair energy supplies
DUVILLA is involved in a feasibility study on fair trade certification of Jatropha oil in Tanzania, for use as biofuel or for power generation. The study, which includes a pilot project in Tanzania, is a partnership between Max Havelaar Netherlands, ICCO, Eneco and three Farmer Unions in Tanzania. It is co-funded by the Global Sustainable Biomass programme of NL Agency (Senter Novem). As part of the study, DUVILLA is assessing the socio-economic potential of Jatropha oil and its by-products for local energy use and carbon credit generation. The study runs from 2009-2011.
