Pilot project on waste management in South Sudan

2010 | Area of work: Sustainable peace building

DUVILLA leads a consortium of Dutch and Sudanese partners that carried out a pilot project on waste management and recycling in Juba, the capital of South Sudan. A fact-finding mission was held to Juba, which resulted in a Business Plan on the potential for development of a landfill, waste collection and recycling project. Partners in the Consortium are Oxfam Novib, HandsforWaste, BGP Engineers and a number of Sudanese partners. The pilot was carried out in collaboration with Terwel Consultancy and Strait Consult (Juba). It was commissioned by Clingendael Institute, as part of the project “Public Private Cooperation in Fragile States” of the Peace Security & Development Network.
